The fifth TO_AITION webinar, titled “The Inflammasome in Cardiovascular Disease and Beyond”, took place on 8 October 2024 via the ESC 365 platform. Organized by the European Society of Cardiology as part of the TO_AITION project, this session focused on the critical role of the inflammasome in cardiovascular health and its implications across various diseases.
The webinar was hosted by Dr. E. Andreakos (Athens, Greece) and featured presentations from leading experts in the field: Prof. E. Latz (Bonn, Germany) and Dr. M. Mangan (Germany).
During the session, participants gained insights into the impact of inflammasomes on cardiovascular disease and other sterile inflammatory conditions. The key discussion points included:
How immune response pathways contribute to sterile diseases
The role of inflammasomes in triggering IL-1 family cytokine activation
The molecular mechanisms underlying NLRP3 activation
This webinar provided clinician-scientists with valuable knowledge on the mechanisms of innate immune activation in inflammatory diseases, advancing our understanding of inflammasome biology and its relevance to cardiovascular pathology.
The recording of the webinar is available on the ESC 365 platform. You can watch it here: ESC 365 - The inflammasome in cardiovascular disease and beyond
We extend our gratitude to the host and speakers for delivering another insightful and thought-provoking session.
